Petco

PetCo is a leading health and wellness company focused on improving the lives of pets, pet parents, and more!

Sustainability Impact: A concern for the health of our planet is a natural extension of our concern for the health and wellbeing of pets. As a pet health and wellness company, they are acutely aware of the pet industry’s impact on our planet’s natural resources. That’s why they're raising the bar for sustainability in pet care by offering more sustainable products and services to pet parents. They joined the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), which gives them opportunities to learn directly from sustainability experts, share best practices, and collectively raise the bar to advance industry-wide sustainability!

They have also installed energy management systems in 98% of Petco Pet Care Centers. These systems have reduced their energy consumption by 4 million kilowatt hours each year, reducing their carbon footprint by 2,828 metric tons of CO2. That’s the same amount of energy used by 515 U.S. homes in a year!

Clothes Mentor

Clothes Mentor is a sustainable women’s resale brand, offering secondhand name-brand and designer products at an affordable price!

Sustainability Impact: Thrifting allows you to “reduce, reuse, and recycle,” but with timeless fashionable pieces. One of the major issues plaguing the fashion industry is the rise of “fast fashion.” Fast fashion is the mass production of trendy, low-quality clothing at a rapid pace and low cost. Thrifting offers a greener solution to the issues posed by fast fashion. Buying clothes from a secondhand shop breaks the cycle of waste and consumerism created by fast fashion.

HUSH CONSIGNMENT STORE

HUSH is a designer consigment boutique where you can buy designer labels at an affordable price, or turn your fabulous treasures into extra spending money!

Sustainability Impact: The fashion industry is responsible for a lot of pollution. According to the United Nations, it produces 20% of the world’s wastewater and 10% of the world’s carbon emissions. One of the best ways to help the planet through your fashion choices is to shop at second hand stores. Giving new life to items that’ve already been produced is sustainable and budget-friendly.
